PIANO YOURSELF – HOW HAS THE GUINNESS RECORD BEEN BROKEN!?

ANOTHER TITLE HAS ARRIVED TO NOVI SAD, THE CITY WHICH IS EUROPEAN YOUTH CAPITAL FOR THE YEAR OF 2019 – GUINNESS RECORD.

Namely, twenty three pupils and professors of Isidor Bajić Music School, with the support of OPENS, managed to break Guinness record in the number of people who play one piano at the same time. In September, at the City Hall, with the broadcast at social networks and the Liberty Square, they played a five-minute composition on one piano and brought the Guinness record home. The breaking of the record was preceded by months and months of practice of the composition called “Dawn” by Ivan Marković, written especially for the given occasion.

“At the faces of the children, we saw the happiness when they finished, which is the purpose of OPENS, to support them and their ideas and we are proud of that. The purpose is to support different contents by young people and for young people, in order to encourage them and support them. It is up to us to hear their requirements and to meet their needs and help them, even after 2019”, Vukašin Grozdanović, OPENS Coordinator explains.

The idea comes from the piano department of the Music School, as one of the manners of bringing classical music closer to audience, in an attractive and unusual manner.

“Excellent pupils and professors of Isidor Bajić Music School, with the support of OPENS team, brought the GUINNESS record to Novi Sad. When our professors and pupils, within the mutual unbelievable energy, motivated and sure about the success, started the race towards the title, I was sure that we would make it, as we have always made it so far, wanting to make our school and our city of Novi Sad the European and world stage. I am proud of the youth, creativity, devotion, love for music, togetherness and aesthetical and cultural values we cherish. This is a great win of the hard-working, persistent and talented”, Radmila Rakin-Martinović, the principal of Isidor Bajić Music School.

These are the names you need to remember: Mihajlo Racpeti (16), Saša Zahorjanski (15), Danijel Leš (15), Milica Vranješ (17), Tisa Lekić (18), Igor Dalagija (17), Boško Stojadinović (17), Luka Petrović (18), Milica Vujanović (17), Dunja Vranješ (18), Sara Todorić (12), Mateo Radimir (13), Lenka Škrbić (12), Nemanja Marčetić (13), Marija Šapovalova (12), Ivan Černuhin (11), Elena Jakšić (11), Laura Mađarić (9), Damjan Svijić (9), Stefan Svijić (10), and professors Tijana Tenji, Aleksandra Vojnak, Slobodanka Stević, Srđan Dalagija, Saša Svijić, Tatjana Uzelac and Nina Aranđelović.

They managed to do what the pupils of high-schools had previously done in Italy, Bosnia and Hercegovina and The Netherlands. That was the opportunity for them to try some other corners of their artistic personality; everything was moved out from the usual manner of dealing with the piano: from playing by one hand, through the position in relation to the piano, and the situation that they are just one of 23 of them, instead of a solo player who sovereignly rules the 88 keys.

Also, this was and has remained the evidence that young people have their door open, when they get the idea to change their environment.

We have opened the door. Now, it is up to you.
