During 2019, OPENS opened the door of The City of Novi Sad thanks to the title and large number of organizations and volunteers, it implemented a significant number of projects but was also the partner in the organization of numerous activities and support to youth initiatives. Those include the first FIBA 3×3 Challenger in Serbia.
Last year, European Youth Capital was the partner of two first-class clubs in the world in 3×3 baskeball, the teams of Liman and Novi Sad, which organized the first FIBA 3×3 Challenger at the city centre, in cooperation with The City of Novi Sad and Provincial Secretariat for Sports and Youth. It included 16 teams from 10 countries around the world and recoded one of the largest number of visits of FIBA 3×3 basketball events in the world. And that is not all…
With the desire for the large number of initiated projects to become the tradition of Novi Sad, in partnership with the company NIS, The City of Novi Sad and the Liman 3×3 team, through the Together for the Community 2018 program, Novi Sad will receive its first court for 3×3 basketball which will be built according to the rules of FIBA, with adequate standards and base for the play, but also the space for urban and new sports such as teqball and street work out.
The construction of OPENS Urban Court brings the citizens of Novi Sad the first free of charge modern open-air 3×3 basketball court, on the attractive location such as Liman 4, next to Sunčani kej, close to Youth Creative Polis – the so-called Chinatown, which will be enriched by new contents in the years to come and where other sports such as teqball and street work out gym will find their place. The purpose of the project at the adapted court is to promote the new olympic sport – 3×3 basketball, as well as new urban sports and healthy lifestyles in Novi Sad which brings world and European champions in this sport.
The existing adapted basketball court will be open and available for all those who train, play and watch this sport, not only in the year when Novi Sad has held the title of European Youth Capital but in the future, too!
