STUDENT TAPESTRY CONTEST FOR PRELIMINARY TAPESTRY DESIGN OF ATELJE 61

We are happy to invite you to participate in the contest for the solution of the tapestry organised by the Institution for tapestry making “Atelje 61” from Petrovaradin, Serbia.

“Atelje 61” will award 2 reward prizes for the preliminary design of tapestry. The amount of one prize is EUR 1000. According to the cardboards of the awarded authors, tapestries will be made in the workshop of “Atelje 61” by the textile weaving techniques and materials proposed by the authors. The finalised tapestries will be a part of the Tapestry Collections of “Atelje 61”.

The terms of participations are defined by proportions defined by the Arts Council of “Atelje 61”. We would like to ask all participants of the contest to adjust their opinions to the visual language of the classic woven tapestries.

PROPOSITIONS
Duration of the contest: from 7 May until 7 September 2019. All applications received after that will not be considered.
The contest is eligible for students of BA and MA studies at the faculties and academies of art and applied arts
The participants of the contest propose the coloured cartoons for the tapestry, which can be made by all techniques and combinations of different techniques
Number of cartoons is not limited
The dimensions of cartoons and projects which are sent by mail or brought in person: not smaller than 0.30 x 0.50m, not larger than 0.70 x 1.00m
Cartoons sent via e-mail: JPEG, TIFF, PDF; resolution 300 dpi; dimensions ≈ 20 x 20 cm
With the cartoon, it is necessary to send the final dimension of the tapestry (up to ≈ 6.00 m2, maximum height up to ≈ 3.0m)
In case of proposal for spatial tapestry, attention must be paid to simple installation and disassemble
The photos of works and application with basic information about the author and cartoons should be sent via e-mail, regular mail or brought in person at the address of “Atelje 61”.

The members of the Arts Council of “Atelje 61” will select 2 designs, according to which the authors will made the cardboards for tapestry not later than 20 October 2019. The money prize will be handed to the authors after the delivery of the cardboards.
