On the occasion of World Tobacco Day on Sunday, 31 May 2020, in the organisation of Public Health Institution Subotica, the webinar called “Let’s Protect The Young from the Manipulation of the Tobacco Industry and Prevent the Use of Tobacco and Nicotine Among Young People” was organised. The purpose of the webinar was for the youngest to meet the myths and manipulative marketing tactics used by the tobacco industry in order to attract them to be the users themselves.
Since European Youth Capital Novi Sad deals with young people, this has definitely been the topic closely related to them and their health, one of the participants at the panel was Nataša Igić, the member of the OPENS Team. For decades, the tobacco industry uses very aggressive and strategically well planned campaigns in order to address and place its products to young people. This year, counter-marketing campaign will be organised, to empower young people to join the fight against the tactics of the 6 largest tobacco industries.
Global campaign will include several points such as disclosure and interpretation of marketing tactics intended for young people as well as the empowerment of the impact of the individual in the fight against tobacco industries.
