STARTUP YOURSELF 2.0 AND FUNDCON 2 PRESENTED AT THE YOUTH EMPLOYMENT FORUM

On 28 February 2019, at the Rectorate of the University of Novi Sad, the first Youth Employment Forum was organised, as the final activity of the project which had been implemented by Vojvodina European Youth Centre since last year.

Through several panels and interactive workshops, more than 120 young people had the opportunity to meet the job market and the opportunities for employment of young people. OPENS, and especially the Startup Yourself 2.0 and Fundcon 2019 programmes were presented at one of the panels.

Being a part of the panel Empowerment of Partnerships for Encouraging Youth Employment, Vukašin Grozdanović, OPENS Coordinator said that OPENS does not directly deal with the topic of employment of young people, but that it worked on the employment of young people along with its partners – 42 youth organisations and organisations for young people, which deal with the problems and challenges of young people in different manners.

“It is questionable how we can systematically influence the increase of employment of young people. We are willing to participate in the change and talk about that. We have definitely recognised that as a need and therefore we reached the programmes such as Startup Yourself and FundCon which mostly promote positive examples and teach young people how to start their own business or learn the things that will help them find employment”, Grozdanović explains.

The forum is held with the purpose of young people aged 18 to 30 to meet the basis of launching their own business as well as for them to learn useful tricks related to the process of recruitment and selection of candidates for job applications. This is a three-year project sponsored by Ministry of Youth and Sport, implemented by Vojvodina European Youth Centre.
